Are Parents Sentient?

YES! Sometimes Parents seem like drones devoted to a routine that is based on some completely random programming (sometimes called "the clock"). But if you are very patient, you will occasionally witness deviating behavior. If you are too impatient to wait for this to happen naturally, you can force a reaction by, for instance, drawing on a wall, flushing a misbehaving stuffed animal in the toilet, or taking your diaper off. A Parent will almost always have a spontaneous response. There is a small amount of research that says you can also tell a Parent kind things, or make them a picture on paper, etc, to get a reaction, but in our experience it is not nearly so pronounced.
